F. Reid Shippen
Nashville, TN
East Coast native F. Reid Shippen grew up hating the phrase “you can’t.” You can’t play the drums... You can’t sing in a band... You can’t have a career making music....
“I did it anyway” was his reply.
After earning dual degrees in business and recording, Reid worked his way up from an intern at Quad Studios to one of the most sought-after young mix engineers around.
In his more than 10 years of experience in the studio, Reid has mixed multiple platinum and gold records and hundreds of charting singles and albums, including seven Grammy Award-winners.
He has been honored to work with respected artists in a variety of genres, from Death Cab for Cutie, A Fine Frenzy, Minus The Bear, and India.Arie to Shania Twain, the Jonas Brothers, Eric Church, and Robert Randolph. This notable discography would not be complete without listing additional artists such as Clay Aiken, Jonny Lang, Flyleaf, Switchfoot, Backstreet Boys, Third Day, MercyMe, and Newsboys.
Reid currently resides in Nashville, TN, where he works out of Robot Lemon, his private SSL mix studio. Any given day will find him mixing pop, rock, R&B, soul, metal, classical, CCM, hip-hop, gospel, country, or a film score.
The key word in describing Reid’s skill set is versatile, and he is always seeking to branch out further.
In addition to his consistently busy mix schedule, he currently has several artists in development and still finds time to occasionally engineer a project or two.
With a world-class studio, an indefatigable work ethic, and an understanding that “a great mix is about bringing emotion to a great song,” Reid’s unrivaled passion for what he does ensures that the artists’ work will sound its absolute best.
